About our School

Our school is located in the small picturesque village of Wickhambreaux, about five miles from Canterbury. The school has recently undergone considerable expansion and improvement, with the state of the art new buildings now completed. The new buildings have meant that the school has increased from three to four classrooms, with a school roll of about 100 children. The school was founded in 1869, and has provided an education service to the local community through to the present day.

Our school creates a secure family atmosphere for the children, and emanates a spirit of warmth and caring. This allows children to feel protected, and so to enjoy the experience of coming to school and learning. Children, teachers, parents and school governors all form part of a closely knit family.

The school also forms an integral part of the life of the village, and has close links with the Church and local community. We aim to help each child acquire a set of positive spiritual and moral values, to act as a guide to personal behaviour, and to help build caring and respectful relationships.

We encourage our children to gain confidence, work hard, learn to think independently and to experience the satisfaction which comes from personal achievement. Children are able to develop their skills and aptitudes to a level appropriate to their ability, within a curriculum that is broad and stimulating.

There are also considerable extra curricular activities which go on after school, further enhancing the learning and enjoyment that the children are able to gain from coming to Wickhambreaux School. These clubs include judo, netball, dance, gym, chess, and Christmas Craft Club. There are also many musical activities which go on. The school has both a choir and an orchestra. The choir are due to perform at the Gulbenkian Theatre at Kent University later in Autumn 2006.
