Music at Wickhambreaux
We take great pride in the quality and range of music on offer at Wickhambreaux, and we are extremely proud of the achievements all our pupils make. Music is co-ordinated by Mrs Gove, a specialist music teacher, who teaches in school two and a half days per week. During that time she delivers all our curriculum music and also runs extra curricular clubs and ensembles in the lunch break and after school. Those children who are particularly ‘gifted and talented’ in music receive a weekly music theory lesson.
Throughout the week we offer lessons on violin, keyboard, recorder, trumpet, flute and guitar and Mrs Gove is supported in this by our
During the school year we take part in a range of concerts and festivals, both in school and as part of a wider setting. Every child in the school performs music at least once a term, and we aim for those who receive extra tuition to perform in a formal concert or service at least once a year.

Each year we award the ‘Rev, John Tyler Music Award’ to one or two children who have shown a particular dedication to music. These children then receive free lessons on their instrument for one year.
We currently run a ‘wider opportunity’ project in Year 3, where all children receive a free violin lesson for one year. Over the next year, we will be rolling out similar projects for children in years 4, 5 and 6, on the recorder, ukulele and samba band instruments.
