Music with Mrs Gove

As Mrs Gove is now working as a full time member of staff in school, the children are able to take advantage of many musical activities.

Mrs Gove has started choir practice ready for the Harvest Festival and Christmas carol service.

She has also started the Wickhambreaux School Orchestra utilising the wealth of musical talent available in the school.  The first practice demonstrated the potential of the orchestra.Picture to follow

Mrs Gove is also working with each class.   Class 4, in conjunction with their projects, are listening to popular music from the 1960s onward, both from the UK and USA.

They incorporated this theme into their Sharing Collective Worship - they all made very realistic "peace loving" hippies!

This is being linked to literacy through song lyrics; they are studying classic hits and writing their own lyrics in the same style.

Class 3, in conjunction with their history topic of invaders and settlers, are doing canoe songs and war chants!  They will be composing their own chants, rounds and action songs.

They are also learning songs to support their science topic this term, which is materials.

Class 2, to tie in with cross curricular studies of Scotland and the Western Isles are doing songs about the sea.   They are hoping to be using words from the literacy work to compose their own songs.
Class 1 will be doing action songs and chants with repeating patterns.
